Welcome! Thank you for taking the time to check out the Elementary Ministry here at Sherwood! It is our prayer that you as a parent recognize that our goal is to partner with you as you walk with your child along their personal spiritual journey with Jesus. We understand that the discipleship of your child is extremely important to you, so you will find that we focus on these three areas that pertain to your child:
1) Safety – We have four (4) different security measures in place to make sure that your child's experience is as safe and carefree as possible.
2) Biblical Accuracy – We strive to have everything we teach and do be grounded in a Biblical Worldview. We believe the Bible is entirely true.
3) Fun – We know that for a child to want to come, the experience must be fun, so we have included energetic worship, personal instruction, friendly leaders and creative recreation! We even make great use of the full size gym, an outdoor playground and our one-of-a-kind five level indoor playground!
It is our goal that Sherwood Kids will learn that God loves them, He wants to be their Savior and He has a wonderful plan for their lives. That plan is for the kids to be missionaries to the world in which they live, no matter where that may be. You will find in our elementary check-in area a giant map of the world. The map represents where Sherwood Kids are taking the Gospel around the world. We hope that one day, your child can put a marker on the map as he/she joins Jesus on mission!
On your first visit to Sherwood, please take time to visit the guest check-in desk to receive your child's security badge. We will be glad to escort you to your child's room and answer any questions we can regarding our ministry.
The Elementary Ministry is Located on the Second Floor Joy Building
Check-in is located on the second floor just to the left as you exit the main staircase on the second floor of the front lobby. First-time guests are encouraged to stop by the Welcome desk in the check-in area to receive their security badges. For security reasons, no parent or child will be allowed down the classroom hallway without a security badge.

Wednesday, 6:30 p.m. - 8 p.m. – Sherwood Kids Praise/Xploration Station
The First Step Class is designed to partner with parents as they walk their children through the most important decision their child will ever make. We believe it is our responsibility, as the church, to equip parents to be the chief disciple makers in their own home and preparing and helping them walk this time in the life of their child is one of the best ways to do it. The class is held on the first Sunday of every month at 11 a.m. in Room 209. If your child has made a profession of faith or is starting to ask questions about salvation, please register your child for this 1-week class. Contact the children's office by emailing Kristin Crosby or by calling the church office at 229-883-1910.
Kid's Rock is an exciting time of worship on Sunday nights led by a cast of adult and high school actors plus a team of middle schoolers leading worship! We use the 252 Basics Curriculum as our basis for programming but put our own unique twist into it. The Kid’s Rock Theater is a state of the art theater equipped with the highest quality video, lights and sound technology. Each program consists of Clubhouse Sketches, a special prayer time, worship, Bible lesson and a wrap-up by Pastor Mark! Grab a friend and come join us for the fun! Starts at 6 p.m. on the second floor of the Joy building. Check in begins at 5:30 p.m.
During the school year, children in K5-5th grades participate in Sherwood Kids Praise during Xploration Station. These children will prepare to lead in the main worship service occasionally, and be involved in different full musical programs throughout the year. Contact Emily Danforth at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
During the school year, children rotate through 3 exciting stations... Sherwood Kids Praise, Small Groups and Recreation. Each night's program is based on a monthly Bible Truth and a Bible story that correlates from the 252 Basics Curriculum. Xploration Station is the small group follow up to Sunday night's large group experience. Programming runs from 6:30 p.m. - 8 p.m. on the second floor of the Joy building.
We at Sherwood Baptist Church recognize the tremendous need in our community for ministry to those with special needs, both physical and mental, and their families. The Buddy Ministry seeks to provide individualized care in a safe and compassionate environment during all normal worship services - Sunday morning and Sunday evening. Our ministry, at this point, is equipped to minister to children ages preschool through elementary. Each student is paired with a trained volunteer or "buddy" to assist them whether they are with their peers in a typical classroom or in a separate class designed specifically for Special Needs. It is our prayer that we will meet the physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs of your family.
The Buddy Ministry children are received into the ministry starting at 9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. each Sunday morning in Joy 215. On your first visit, we may ask that you stay with your child during the entire time if your child is having a hard time adjusting to the new environment. This allows you the opportunity to get an in-depth look at the ministry and it gives us the chance to get information from you and answer any questions you may have. During that time we will have forms for you to fill out or you can download the forms below, fill them out and either email them to us or bring them with you. If you decide to enroll your child in the Buddy Ministry, we would ask that you arrange for a student placement interview by calling the Children’s Ministry office at 229-883-1910.
