Welcome! Thank you for taking the time to check out the Preschool Ministry here at Sherwood! This is the place where foundations are laid. It is our goal to partner with you as you walk with your child along their personal spiritual journey with Jesus. We will strive to provide a safe, well-rounded and exciting ministry experience for preschoolers and their families.

First Time?

Our Nursery and Preschool Ministry is located on the first floor of the Joy Building. Self-serve kiosks are located at the entrance of the preschool area. First-time guests are encouraged to stop by the preschool welcome desk to receive their security badges. One of our friendly greeters will be happy to help you find your child’s classroom. For security reasons, no parent or child will be allowed down the classroom hallway without a security badge. See you soon!

What to Expect

At Sherwood, preschoolers will learn about God, themselves, and the world around them through planned Bible-learning activity centers. Our goal is that our preschoolers will come to know that God made them, He loves them, and He wants to be their Forever Friend. We see our Preschool Ministry as the place where these incredibly important foundations are laid. When you visit our preschool, you will see giant oak trees and pine trees along the walls. The trees are symbols of what we want our children to grow up to be. You will also notice six giant murals of familiar Bible stories. These murals tell the gospel story from Creation to the Resurrection! When you visit, take time to walk the hallway and read the gospel story to your child. It will be a great family moment for you!

Safe & Fun

Close attention is paid to security and cleanliness in an effort to provide a safe and fun learning environment. We understand that the care of your child is extremely important to you, so we focus on these three areas that pertain to your child:

Safety

We have four different security measures in place to make sure your child's experience is as safe and carefree as possible.

Fun

We have included energetic Wee Worship, personal instruction, friendly leaders, and creative recreation. We even make great use of our outdoor and indoor playgrounds!

Biblical Accuracy

We strive to ground everything we teach and do in a biblical worldview. We believe the Bible is entirely true.

Preschool Programs

Wee Care

We offer safe, fun, and exciting childcare for preschool children (infants - kindergarten) during the 9:30 am worship service, 11:00 am Connect Groups, and 6:00 pm worship service each Sunday. Parents of preschoolers and other adult volunteers serve in this ministry. All adults must have approved background checks.

Preschool Praise & Sherwood Kids Praise

Sherwood Preschool Praise is for preschoolers, ages 3 years through kindergarten, and is a part of the preschool music ministry during the school year on Sunday nights. Those in kindergarten also participate in Sherwood Kid's Praise on Wednesday nights during the school year. (see Elementary page)

AWANA Cubbies

AWANA Cubbies for 3 and 4-year-olds meets on Wednesday evenings for a fun-filled night of learning Bible verses, Scripture songs, missions education, and team games. The heart of AWANA is the gospel message. AWANA strongly emphasizes memorizing and understanding Scripture while offering games and a variety of Bible activities. Cubbies meet August through May, ending with a ceremony for Cubbies and parents. Wonderful Wednesday activities are planned for the summer.

Parent/Child Dedication

Parent/Child Dedication is a time-honored tradition
and special moment in the life of Sherwood families.

Participants must be Sherwood church members.
