DO YOU KNOW MY JESUS?
The Suffering Servant
1 Peter 2:21-23

"Not one person in all the world is exempt from sorrow. Philosophers of every age have acknowledged it. Biographers, no matter how shallow the treatise, have recorded it. Experience has confirmed it. From the fact of suffering there is no escape. It sinks its fangs deeply into rich and poor, high and low, saved and lost." – Lehman Strauss

"Those in Christ are inevitably at odds with their culture and society, since all Satan-energized systems actively oppose Christ and his followers."
– John MacArthur

I. SUFFERING AT THE HANDS OF SINNERS

• __ by the Sanhedrin (Mark 14:65)

• __ by the Roman guards (Mark 15:12-20)

• __ from one of the crucified thieves (Mark 15:29-32)

II. SALVATION BECAUSE OF A SAVIOR

There are four relative clauses in verses 21-25 that give us a picture of Christ's suffering for our sin:

1) Christ who did not __

2) Christ who did not __

3) Christ who __ our sins

4) Christ, by whose wounds we are __

III. A SHEPHERD WHO CAN LEAD US ON PATHS OF RIGHTEOUSNESS

"In the Old Testament, the sheep died for the shepherd, but at Calvary, the Shepherd died for the sheep. Every lost sinner is like a sheep gone astray; ignorant, lost, in danger, away from the place of safety, and unable to help himself." – Warren Wiersbe
