Unshakable

The Word of God

2 Peter 1:12-21

OVERVIEW
Everything in our world seems to be broken, falling apart, and unraveling, and many churches seem like ships without a rudder. We must not forget that our God is unshakable. His promises are true and trustworthy. His power to reach into our lives and our churches is limitless. In a day when there is constant change in every area of life, He remains the same yesterday, today, and forever – UNSHAKABLE. The Word of God is the unchanging, authoritative foundation for our lives. In this first message, we’ll look at the authenticity of both the Old and New Testaments and learn why they are foundational for our faith.

We live in a time that demands serious evaluation and examination. The foundations are eroding, and increasing numbers of individuals don’t have a clue regarding absolute truth, the Word of God, and the truth of Scripture.
- Denominations are dying.
- Churches are closing their doors.
- Liberalism and political correctness are taking over in many pulpits.
- Churches are failing to reach the next generation.
- We are often late to the game in speaking on social, moral, and ethical issues.

I. THE WORD IS ETERNAL

In 2 Peter 1, we see the foundation that cannot be shaken. It will be strong and sure, long after the critics and skeptics have been buried and forgotten.

II. THE NEW TESTAMENT IS AUTHORITATIVE

False religions claim there’s not much difference between the origin of Christianity and any other religion.

Peter’s resume:

III. THE OLD TESTAMENT IS AUTHORITATIVE

The unshakable principle is this: the Old and New Testament revelations and interpretations were the very words of God. We can all nod our heads and say we believe that, but how does it apply to our lives? What difference does it make?
