Children Go Where I Send Thee
THE CONSEQUENCES OF RUNNING FROM GOD
Jonah 1:11 - 2:10

Jonah is an honest look at a prophet who was asked by God to share the gospel with a group of people he hated. He was all in favor of God judging them, but he resented the fact that God might save them. What do you do when God's call makes you uncomfortable? What do you do when God changes the paradigm, challenges the status quo, and stretches you out of your comfort zone? In the last message we looked at Jonah’s refusal to submit to God’s call, which left his fellowship with God broken. When we resist, our hearts begin to harden and we can’t hear the voice of the Holy Spirit. What will God have to send to get us to obey? May we be quick to hear and quick to obey!

I. THE STORM

“In addition to acknowledging himself as a Hebrew, Jonah gave a witness. . . . He may have endeavored to resign his commission, but he could not change his heart. So he pointed these mariners to the Lord God.” – Gabelein
