Jesus, Our Savior
What Is Jesus Doing Today?
Philippians 2:9-11; Hebrews 1-13
We are a week removed from Easter. We’ve celebrated the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus. He is a risen Lord. He’s not a martyr. He’s not a dead leader. He defeated death and rose from the grave. He is ascended to the right hand of the Father and is making intercession for each one of us. He is ACTIVE and ENGAGED in your life, even if you don’t see Him. He is there!
I. HE IS THE RESURRECTED LORD
“In the resurrection of Christ, we have the assurance that He is the Lord of heaven and earth whose right it is to rule and in whose hands are gathered the reins of the universe…” – B. B. Warfield
II. HE IS THE ASCENDED LORD
“The exaltation is the reversal of humiliation. He who stood condemned in relation to the divine law (because the sin of the world rested on Him) has exchanged this penalty for the righteous relation to the law. . . . He who was rejected has been accepted. . . . He now holds in His hands, the reins of the universe, and rules all things in the interest of His church.” – William Hendricksen
III. HE IS KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS
Why is it a big deal that Jesus is, even now, at the right hand of the Father?
1) It is a position of __.
2) It is a position of __.
3) It is His position because of __
4) It is a position of __.
“It has to be a name that goes beyond merely distinguishing one name from another; it must be a name that is descriptive of Christ’s nature – revealing something of His essential being. It has to be a superlative name – one that would set Christ beyond all others and above all comparison.” – John MacArthur
Romans 10:9, 10 – Those verses are valid for…
IV. HE IS ACTIVELY MINISTERING ON MY BEHALF TODAY
“Who has announced this from of old? Who has long since declared it? Is it not I, the Lord? And there is no other God besides Me, a righteous God and a Savior; there is none except Me. Turn to Me and be saved, all the ends of the earth; for I am God, and there is no other.” – Isaiah 45:21, 22
What Isaiah knew as true of Jehovah is true of Jesus – He is Lord.
What does the book of Hebrews tell us He is doing right now?
In light of what He is doing on our behalf, what should we be doing? How should a believer respond to our resurrected Lord?
