RELENTLESS: The Tenacity Required
Daniel 1

I. THE BACKGROUND

As this book opens, the Southern Kingdom of Judah is about to reap the result of disobeying God’s Word. In the first two verses we see the first of three deportations which took place in 605, 597, and 586 BC with the ultimate destruction of Jerusalem. Daniel reinforces the sovereignty of God in overseeing all nations. God is always in control. The Psalms tell us that He laughs at nations. History shows us that kingdoms rise and fall. God is always in control of the ultimate direction of this world.

Why was God sending judgment to Judah?

II. THE TEST

We need to ask some questions in times of testing:

What is said of Daniel should be said of each of us:
• We stand for Jesus __.
• We are willing to face whatever comes our way, but __.
• We choose to __.
• We are __.
• We believe __, and we choose to be __.
