Undivided: Trials and Perspective
James 1:2-4
“For momentary, light affliction is producing for us an eternal weight of glory far beyond all comparison.” - 2 Corinthians 4:17
Key Thought: Trials are incredibly __ when you have the right __.
Our values determine our __.
If God __ it, He's using it. If He's using it, I need it. If I need it, I can be __ for it.
God allows His people to go through trials for numerous reasons:
- Trials test the strength and authenticity of our __. (the book of James; 1 John 2:19; 1 Peter 1:7)
- Trials sanctify and mature us. (James 1:2-4; Romans 5:3-5)
- Trials __ us. (2 Corinthians 12:7)
- Trials eventually produce hope. (Romans 5:3-5)
- Trials cause us to __ on God instead of worldly things. (2 Corinthians 1:8-9)
- Trials open opportunities to share the gospel. (1 Peter 3:14-15)
- Trials turn our eyes toward __ as our ultimate home. (Philippians 1:22-24)
- Trials reveal what we really love. (1 Peter 1:6-9)
- Trials teach us __ and help us value God's blessings. (Hebrews 5:7-9)
- Trials provide opportunity for eternal reward. (James 1:12; 1 Peter 1:6-7)
