Undivided: Accessing Wisdom When You Need it Most

James 1:5-8

Our __ of prayer is only as good as our __ in God.

__ God's promises in prayer is an attack against God's __.

Don't ever put a __ mark where God placed a __.

Big Truth: Trials require __, wisdom requires asking, asking requires faith, and __ gets you nothing.

What does this text teach us about acquiring wisdom in trials?

  • When trials are __ you need wisdom. (v. 5a)

“But…”

  • If you lack __, ask God for it. (v. 5b)

“…if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him.”

  • When you ask for wisdom, ask in __. (v. 6a)

“But he must ask in faith without any doubting…”

  • If you __ God, don't expect anything from Him. (vv. 6b-8)

“…for the one who doubts is like the surf of the sea, driven and tossed by the wind. For that man ought not to expect that he will receive anything from the Lord, being a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.”

Paul's answer to __ Christians in Ephesians 4 is, “Be grounded in the __.”

James' answer to __ Christians in James 1 is, “Be grounded in __.”
