Easter at Sherwood

Luke 24:1-3

Just as the cross of Good Friday signifies Jesus’ __ and death, the empty tomb of Easter Sunday signifies Jesus’ __ and life.

Key Truth:
The empty tomb is essential for human __.

Jesus said…

  • “I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.” – John 10:10
  • “I am the way, the truth, and the life.” – John 14:6
  • “…the words that I have spoken to you are spirit and are life.” – John 6:36
  • “…whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.” – John 3:16

Jesus said, “I came to __ life. . . I am life. . . My __ are life. . . Whoever believes in Me has eternal life.”

How does Jesus’ promise of life (made possible by the empty tomb) impact our emptiness?

  • __ is not the end. We have __.
  • Jesus keeps His __. We can __ Him.
  • __ and eternal life are available. We can experience our created __.

Response: Have you experienced eternal life?

  • Humanity was created for relationship with God.
  • Our sin separated us from that relationship.
  • There was nothing we could do to reconcile the relationship on our own.
  • Jesus died on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins.
  • Jesus rose from the dead that we might have life.
  • Jesus offers eternal life (reconciled relationship) to those who will turn from their sins by placing faith in Him.
