Welcome! Thank you for taking the time to check out the Elementary Ministry here at Sherwood! It is our goal to partner with you as you walk with your child along their personal spiritual journey with Jesus. We will strive to provide a safe, well-rounded and exciting ministry experience for 1st-5th grade students and their families.

First Time?

Our elementary ministry is located on the second floor of the Joy building. Self-serve kiosks are located at the entrance of the children’s area. First time guests are encouraged to stop by the children’s welcome desk to receive their security badges. One of our friendly greeters will be happy to help you find your child’s classroom. For security reasons, no parent or child will be allowed down the classroom hallway without a security badge. See you soon!

Well child policy

What to Expect

It is our goal that Sherwood Kids will learn that God loves them, He wants to be their Savior and He has a wonderful plan for their lives. That plan starts with a relationship with Christ – To know Him.  It continues with Making Him known.  Kids are called to be missionaries to the world in which they live, no matter where that may be. You will find in our elementary check-in area a giant map of the world. The map represents where Sherwood Kids have taken the Gospel around the world. We hope that one day your child can put a marker on the map as he/she joins Jesus on mission!

Safe & Fun

Close attention is paid to security and cleanliness in an effort to provide a safe and fun learning environment. We understand that the care of your child is extremely important to you, so you will find that we focus on these three areas that pertain to your child:

Safety

We have four (4) different security measures in place to make sure that your child's experience is as safe and carefree as possible.

Fun

We have included energetic worship, personal instruction, friendly leaders and creative recreation in our full-sized gym!

Biblical Accuracy

We strive to have everything we teach and do be grounded in a Biblical Worldview. We believe the Bible is entirely true.

Our Programs

First Steps
The First Step Class is designed to partner with parents as they walk their children through the most important decision their child will ever make. We believe it is our responsibility, as the church, to equip parents to be the chief disciple makers in their own home. Preparing and teaching parents during this time in the life of their child is one of the best ways we can do this. The class is held on the first Sunday of every month at 11 am in Room Joy 209. If your child has made a profession of faith or is starting to ask questions about salvation, please bring your child for this 1-session class. We ask that at least one parent/guarding attend with their child. Contact the children's office by calling the church office at 229-883-1910.
Kids Praise
During the school year, children in K5-5th grades participate in Sherwood Kids Praise, as one part of the Xploration Stations. Members of the music ministry lead children in preparing for singing in the main worship service occasionally and teach them what true worship is all about.
Buddy Ministry
The Buddy Ministry children are received into the ministry at 9:15 am for service and 10:45 am for Connect Groups each Sunday morning in Joy 215. On your first visit, we may ask that you stay with your child during the entire time if your child is having a hard time adjusting to the new environment. This allows you the opportunity to get an in-depth look at the ministry and it gives us the chance to get information from you and answer any questions you may have. During that time we will have forms for you to fill out. If you decide to enroll your child in the Buddy Ministry, we would ask that you arrange for a student placement interview by calling the Children’s Ministry office at 229-883-1910.

Upcoming Events

VBS (Vocational Bible School)

June 2-6

VBS is for completed Kindergartners-5th graders. At Magnified! VBS children will be challenged to stand in awe of God’s spectacular creation and see how He keeps the whole universe going and growing, yet He still cares about what’s going on in their lives. Children will learn that they can be confident God loves them and He will be faithful to keep His promises.
