Houses of Prayer

Throughout Sherwood’s history, God has used certain prayer initiatives to move His vision forward. One of those “vision moving” prayer initiatives has been House of Prayer. The weekly rhythm of House of Prayer has allowed believers an opportunity to write prayer cards, pray for church plants and mission partners, and pray for requests that impact the total life of the church. 

But every ministry will face two logistical challenges: time and location. When a ministry happens at a certain time and in a specific location, it limits engagement to those who can meet those two criteria. We believe so much in the impact of House of Prayer that we want to bring it to everyone, at all times, and in every location. 

House of Prayer is becoming Houses of Prayer. It will be the same basic content, same focus, and same overall format. But the new format will allow everyone to be involved, where they are, and at a time that works for them. That includes those who are traveling, sick, or just unable to get to a specific location.

March 28, 2025 | General Ministry

Palm Sunday, Good Friday and Easter Sunday

Pray for…

  • All marketing and advertising pieces to get to the right person at the right time
  • God to give people courage to invite friends, neighbors, co-workers and family members
  • People to encounter the presence of God here at Sherwood

Mission Trips – Portland, OR; Maui, HI; Clarkston, GA

Pray for…

  • Safety of those going on the trips
  • Spiritual impact will be made
  • Those on the trip to see new ways they can be involved in missions at home

Vision at Sherwood

Pray for…

  • People to be awakened by the gospel, to a life of knowing Christ and making Him known
  • Conversations that make Christ known
  • People to know Christ in an intimate relationship
  • Us to continue growing deeper and deeper into the gospel

The Hope Center

Pray for…

  • Guidance and wisdom to evangelize areas around the Traveler Inn on Oglethorpe Blvd., Driskell Park and Turner Job Corps
  • God to fill the volunteers with His spirit, clothe them in humility and allow them to serve effectively
  • God to open doors for meaningful conversations to those they seek to reach

March 21, 2025 | Prayer and Pursuit

Going Deeper in Prayer

Pray for…

  • God would put an ongoing burden in people’s hearts to come to Him in prayer
  • People would spend greater amounts of time with God in prayer
  • God would answer things in a way that our prayer lives become one of the most exciting parts of our spiritual growth and development

Determined Pursuit of Christ

Pray for…

  • God develops our people and those connected to Sherwood in a determined pursuit of Christ
  • People take time to prioritize their walk with Christ
  • There would be no excuses for not faithfully pursuing Christ

A Determined, Focused, and Dedicated Pursuit of Christ

Pray for…

  • New ways of walking in greater levels of dedication and faithfulness to Christ
  • Opportunities to share the gospel with those around us
  • Sensitive listening ears towards the Spirit’s promptings

Easter Sunday

Pray for…

  • Courage to those who are extending an invitation and willingness to come to those who will receive an invitation
  • Preparation for Easter is bathed in prayer, thorough, and points all eyes to Christ
  • God would draw many to Himself in salvation

Next Steps

Pray for…

  • People to take their next step
  • Wisdom and courage to take the next step
  • A stronger church community, because of the people walking in obedience

  • New members to find their place of service so they feel a greater connection to the body

Prayer Over Our Community
Pray for…

  • Eyes to see what He sees all around
  • People to be burdened with a desire for prayer
  • God to use the prayer of His people to transform this city and community for His sake and glory
