SHARE HIS STORY

God did not enter our story; we entered His. The redemptive story of God began in eternity past and is still unfolding personally, locally, and globally.

This series is designed to help disciples have an intimate knowledge of the gospel and become better storytellers of God’s activity. Our testimony includes telling people what God DID and what God is DOING. It incorporates the message of the gospel, how God saved us, and the ways He is actively at work in our lives. When disciples live out of the overflow of relationship with God, there will be current stories of God’s faithfulness, answered prayer, and moments of God’s abundant grace at work in our lives.

As we look for God’s activity, it allows us to answer questions like: How does the gospel impact practical living? What has God done in your life recently? What does it look like when believers live the gospel in their city? The stories emerge in the mission. The mission catches fire through the stories.

Join us as we learn to share His story and live the gospel together.

Share His Story: Speak His Praise

Colossians 4:2-4

God did not enter our __; we entered His.

Our personal __ doesn’t end with, “And that’s how God saved me…” It continues with, “And here’s how God is at work in my life…”

A Critical Question for Believers:

How are you __ God in your life __?

The stories emerge in the __, and the mission will catch __ through the stories.

Colossians 4:2-4 has three key parts:

1) A __ component
2) A thanksgiving component
3) A __ component

A biblical pattern for prayer from David’s life: (prayer, answer, action, praise)

  • __ everything in prayer.
  • Wait for God to answer.
  • __ what God tells you.
  • Praise God for what He’s doing.

They were praying about a __ for ministry, the message of ministry, __ to ministry, and clarity in ministry.

Prayer Lesson: “You can’t __ it, but you can pray about it, and God can __ it.”

Current __ can be the greatest enemy of future __.

Sherwood’s Vision: To see people awakened by the gospel to a life of knowing Christ and making Him known

Share His Story: Steward His Story

John 4:39-42

God did not enter our story; we entered His.

Key Question for Disciples: “How are you experiencing God in your life—TODAY?”

Revelation 12:11 says, “And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony…”

The stories will emerge in the mission, and the mission will catch fire through the stories.

We are stewards of 2 great God stories:

1. The story of God’s work in the __.

2. The story of God’s work in our __.

There are more people __ to be saved than there are disciples __ to share the Good News. (Luke 10:2)

Big Idea: Our __ may be the introduction; His __ must become the journey.

Two practical thoughts on sharing your testimony:

1. This woman __ her story with those she knew.
2. Your story doesn’t have to be __ for God to use it.

The gospel’s power is not __ by our sense of desperation.

3 Prayer Challenges for Disciples:

1. God, will you deepen my __ of the gospel and show me how you’re at work in my life?

2. God, will you __ me to share the gospel and what you’re doing in my life THIS WEEK?

3. God, will you make me a __ in the harvest?

Share His Story: Satisfied in Him

Psalm 16:10-11

“God is most __ in us when we are most __ in Him.” – John Piper

Two misunderstandings related to joy:

  • Joy is not a level of __ made available only to perfect people.
  • Joy is not a feeling you get when everything goes exactly as __ and all your problems fade away.

What is Christian joy?

Christian joy is an inward feeling of deep __ and happiness that’s produced in us by the Holy Spirit and more fully __ as we abide in Christ.

Key Truth:

Those who __ in Him are __ in Him.

Things can make a satisfied life more __, but things can never make a discontented life __. Only God can fully satisfy.

Important Question:

When will Jesus be __?

How do we grow in our joy and satisfaction in God?

  1. Spend __ in His presence.
  2. As a part of __ prayer, ask God to reveal His blessings in your life.
  3. __ God for who He is and what He’s done for you.
  4. Ask God to __ you when you’re pursuing other things to bring satisfaction.
  5. Constantly __ His goodness with others.
