On Sunday night, September 25, 2022, Pastor Paul Gotthardt shared a plan with the Sherwood family to bring small but meaningful additions to Sunday night services. It has been the church’s desire over the years to make Sunday evenings distinct. In addition to these nights, we are adding three additional categories to our Sunday nights at Sherwood. We recognize there are certain topics that need to be addressed in church that are not suited for Sunday mornings and have not been part of our Sunday night format in the past. There is also important information that needs to be shared with the church family so that we can pray together and work toward the same goal. We are excited for all the things to come as we continue Sunday Nights!
The following descriptions are the variations we have been doing on Sunday nights that make them distinct from Sunday mornings:
This is a time of deeper, typically exegetical, teaching through a book of the Bible, along with prayer, worship, and an offering. These evenings are almost like a really big “small group” with a relaxed atmosphere of worship and the Word.
This is an opportunity for the church family to get to know one another better and build relationships with other believers. Often, we utilize our facilities at Legacy Park to gather around food, sports, games, and conversation to cultivate community.
We may seek the Lord individually in personal prayer and repentance, in small groups of 2-4, or corporately as the body united in focused prayer for our church, nation, and the world.
Whether it’s a concert, guest artist, acoustic worship, or an album recording, this is an extended time of worship through music.
This is a night when we encourage people to rest and spend time with family, and we do not have an evening service. Usually, these nights happen on holiday weekends.
In 1 Chronicles 12:32, we learn that the men of Issachar understood the times and had knowledge of what Israel should do. Because we live in a time of great foolishness and little discernment, Pastor Paul Gotthardt trains believers to better understand major cultural issues and engage hard topics from a biblical perspective. Sometimes he invites special guests to join him to share their expertise and experiences.
Pastor Paul Gotthardt addresses 5-7 questions from a biblical perspective. These questions from Sherwood members have been previously submitted and cover a variety of topics including theology, the Bible, issues of morality, and more.
Pastor Paul Gotthardt shares important news, vision, and/or corporate prayer needs. These nights provide an opportunity for our pastor to share his heart with the church family and provide clarity and direction as the Lord leads.
